Markets in Balance: Electricity and Flexibility Markets

The electricity market is bigger than you think. Behind every kilowatt-hour lies a world of bids, balancing and market players responding to each other in real time. In this training you learn how the forward, day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets work, which roles exist, and how batteries, wind and solar take up a position in them. No dry theory, but real-world cases and a battery optimisation game that brings the market to life.
  • Understand what grid congestion is and the challenges it brings
  • Engage more effectively with grid operators and other stakeholders
  • Understand how PICASSO, MARI and the move to 15-minute day-ahead markets are changing the market

About the training

This training is intended for both newcomers and experienced professionals working in the energy sector who want a complete picture of how energy markets work.

The electricity market is bigger than you think. Behind every kilowatt-hour lies a world of bids, balancing and market players responding to each other in real time. Using current, real-world cases, this training shows how the European grid is kept in balance, where the opportunities lie for flexible assets and how you can apply that knowledge directly within your organisation.

We also cover the impact of these markets on energy companies and on society. Finally, you learn why IT and OT infrastructure is crucial to success in energy markets.

You take the training alongside a group of professionals from the energy sector. The battery optimisation case and the interactive market simulation make abstract concepts concrete. The training is also available as an in-company programme, tailored to your organisation's situation.
