Flexibility is the ability to adjust your electricity consumption or production in response to market signals, grid signals or price incentives. This can be delivered through battery storage (BESS), demand response or smart control of charging points and industrial processes. TSOs such as TenneT procure this flexibility through markets like FCR (Frequency Containment Reserve) and aFRR (automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve). Those able to supply flexibility are rewarded for it directly.
